The Shepherd s Child

REFLECTION

The Shepherd's Child also reflects some of the Truth about the Christian Faith.
This was one of the reasons for its commission and sculpting by JOEL.

When Jesus was born Shepherds were told about His birth by an Angel of God, and came to Worship Him, in the stable where He had been born. These Shepherds were looking after the lambs that would be used in the Temple sacrifices, including for the feast of Passover.

Later during the time when as an adult He was healing the sick and teaching, Jesus described Himself as - The Good Shepherd, Who lays down His life for His sheep.

Remember also that John the Baptist, calling people to repent and turn to God, shouted out when He saw Jesus
" Look, the Lamb of God "

Jesus came to take our sins from us and to take our punishment for them....so that we can have eternal life, and know God closely as Father and friend....and more

The Shepherd s Child Poem

~ He holds the Weak in His Arms ~

Softly
I shall rest
Safely in your arms
The road is hard and dusty
Keep me from the dark
I shall rest
Safely in your arms

When dangers come
Or sorrows fall
I shall run to you run to you
Softly
Safely
Into your arms
safe in your arms

Oh Shepherd s child
carry me

Shepherd s Child carry me
Safe in your arms

I am safe in your arms
